A two-day workshop on Participant Involvement in Digital Libraries (PIDL), sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and hosted by The Math Forum at Drexel University [1] was held in early February 2004.
The workshop brought together 35 experienced practitioners and evaluators from projects funded by NSF's National Science Digital Library (NSDL) program [2] and from the area of online community development to describe and discuss the nature of participant involvement in NSDL [3] and NSDL-funded projects, as well as methods that provide feedback about participants to these projects.
