ATLANTA — You could call it extreme distance learning.

Mexico is trying to boost its high school graduation rates through free Internet-based classes beamed to migrants in the United States.


"We had been waiting for this," said Pablo Nava, from Guerrero state, who has been living in Athens, Ga. and working in chicken processing for about three years. "We kept hearing here and there that it was going to open. On the day it did, I was right there."
