Aspen to enable streamlined learning and skills development; greater access to learning and information for 29,000 employees
BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 4, 2003-- Click2learn (Nasdaq:CLKS), a leader in enterprise productivity solutions, announced today that First Data Corp., a global leader in electronic commerce and payment services, will implement the Aspen Enterprise Productivity Suite(TM). The solution will consolidate a broad range of disparate learning programs and support a unified learning and performance management initiative across the organization. The First Data rollout of Aspen follows implementation of the platform by First Data's Merchant business unit. Its Aspen implementation reached 7,500 users and was the largest learning technology deployment to support the consolidation of learning registration processes within that business. Based on the success of that deployment and an extensive evaluation of the existing technologies on the market, First Data chose Aspen as the single Learning Management System (LMS) to standardize all learning initiatives across the company. This new implementation will reach the remaining employee base, creating a rich, consistent learning environment for 29,000 employees.
In addition to its robust single-platform architecture and easy-to-use interface, First Data chose Aspen because it enables the organization to decrease administration costs. Many divisions have depended upon training administrators to manually manage the learning registration and tracking process.
Aspen provides an automated approach to classroom registration and management of online training and other learning resources. The company will also use Aspen's Performance Management module to identify the skill gaps within the organization and offer employees the ability to quickly locate the proper training to close those gaps.
"Managing knowledge assets and ensuring that employees have easy access to the information and just-in-time learning they need to be productive is critical to business success in the highly-regulated financial services industry," said Kevin Oakes, Click2learn chairman and CEO. "Click2learn is helping support First Data's belief in providing the best possible work experience for its employees, while maximizing resources and increasing efficiencies across the organization. With Aspen, this means a comprehensive, consistent learning program that results in a happier, more productive workforce, significant cost savings and an increased bottom line."
